CLT – Ben Sando was fueling equipment recently when he noticed that a Delta MD 90 was taxiing with its bin door open. Ben contacted the Supervisor on duty, Keith Marrow, who then called airport ops and had the issue corrected. Our guys did a great job of being aware of their surroundings and possibly stopping a major problem from occurring with the aircraft.
BOS – While cleaning an aircraft early one morning, Julia and Jerome McIntosh both challenged a TSA agent trying to enter the plane. The agent asked Julia and Jerome a few questions which the two were able to answer correctly. Julia was then told by the TSA agent before leaving that JetStream always does a great job in finding what has been hidden on the aircraft. Kudos to Julia and Jerome and a great job done by the BOS team!
GSO – On two occasions in one day, our amazing GSO team members challenged TSA agents. Don Walker prevented unauthorized access to a secured area and Oscar Lanzas, Robert Sanders, and Inez Marcelino challenged an agent at the gate. These four team members did an amazing job and received a huge compliment from a TSA Inspector. Keep up the good work Team GSO!!!
JetStream’s Pioneering Spirits
The Pioneering Spirit choice for this newsletter is not one, but two very hardworking JetStream team players, Ty Yount and Jon Prater.
Ty and Jon were chosen because of all of the hard work and hours they put in during the CMH transition. The two both worked the bag room every day
during the transition because they were shorthanded. Jon would pick Ty up every morning at 4 a.m. on his way into work and they would work 12-14 hour
daysfor almost a month straight.
Ty and Jon make a great team and did an amazing job working the ramp, learning the new American system and training the other employees the new American way of
doing things. Thank you guys for all of your hard work. You two make a great team!!!
JetStream would like to thank Team GSO, under the leadership of Mike Parker, for safely handling 18 diversions in GSO Saturday due to fog and visibility under 1/4 of a mile in CLT. The entire concourse plus a few other areas on the airfield were surrounded by US and US Express aircraft. The team handled an extra section mainline flight to move CLT passengers from one of the flights that cancelled and ferried out. Good job team!
At 12:01 a.m. on August 30th, we began our newest contract at GSO/Piedmont Triad International Airport. Below is the email sent out by Charlie Coyle recapping the startup…
Mike Parker and the team did an outstanding job in getting the station off on the right foot. Unfortunately, Mother Nature decided to throw us a few curve balls during our first few days. There was a ramp closure due to a lightning strike on the airfield, which shut down the airport for a few minutes until the back-up generator restored power. The Team worked through the issue and continued to put up a good show for US Airways.
Due to the lack of experience in the agent ranks, our TDY Team of Bob Collins (IND Supervisor/ Trainer), Tina Kroening (IND Ops Agent) and Brett Hill (IND Bag Room/ Ramp Agent) have done a tremendous job in assisting Mike Parker, Alan Lowe, Stephen Knowles, Jeff Henshaw and Charlie Stone with one-on-one hands on training with all aspects of the operation. Safety has been the focal point of this entire start-up with a secondary focal point on performance which has been outstanding with flights departing 5 to 10 minutes early with all bags onboard.
A BIG thank you goes to the IT Department (Anil an Travis) for their
help in getting the station linked up to the network and the outside world. THANK YOU to Gail and her team (Bill and Adam) for their assistance during day 1 as well. Finally, thank you to Ty and Frank for their assistance.
JetStream Ground Services is happy to be back at Piedmont Triad Int’l Airport. We have recently been awarded the US Airways Ground Handling contract at GSO and Mike Parker will be our station manager. Mike has previously held positions with JetStream as part of the Safety, Training and Compliance team and Ramp Manager at PIT. We are excited to be back at GSO and we look forward to further growth at the GSO airport.
